Choral World in Salt Lake City
The once-every-two-years gathering of the American Choral Directors Association took place this past week in Salt Lake City. It's been a terrific location, with such great venues as the Tabernacle at Temple Square, and Abravanel Hall (home of the Utah Symphony), great mountain view and yummy restaurant options, the thousands of choral conductors, singers and scholars have had a great week!
Though it would be impossible to attend all the great performances and sessions offered, memorable events included performances by the Ansan City Chorale (Korea), Estonian Chamber Choir, the Kings Singers and the Real Group, plus a wonderful session by Simon Halsey, chorus master of the city of Birmingham Symphony Chorus and Berlin Philharmonic Chorus on score analysis and text study.
These conferences are always a great re-charge, and that was certainly the case this time. Plus, an afternoon on the ski slopes was a wonderful bonus!
