Our 5th Community Sing Celebration

Friday, September 27th, at 6 PM

AT CENTERPOINT BREWING COMPANY

Thank you to everyone who attended our 5th annual Community Sing celebration! We were overwhelmed with the spectacular turnout (in hurricane weather, no less!) and the generosity of our attendees, who raised over $4700 for our educational and community outreach initiatives while singing their hearts out! We were also thrilled to have FOUR of our conducting fellows in attendance (three alums and our current fellow), and one even made an impromptu performance at the event! Big thanks also go to our incredible sponsors The Singing Crust and Centerpoint Brewing Company for their support!

Community Sing is a free event (open to all ages) with a suggested donation of $10 to directly support programs like our Conducting Fellowship, Spotlight Choir Initiative, K-8 outreach, high school masterclasses, and Pay-What-You-Can performances, as well as to sponsor tickets for those in our community who are in need. This year’s Community Sing musical selections included favorites from John Denver, Beethoven, Cole Porter, the Drifters, and Handel’s Messiah!

Margaret Bonds’ Credo – Bonds’ 1967 work Credo for chorus, soloists and piano sets excerpts from the poem of the same name by Black writer W.E.B. DuBois, about the nobility of the Black race and the hope for equality.
