Voices of the Spirit

Duruflé, Requiem, Op. 9
David Duncan – Organ
Eric Stark – Artistic Director
Indianapolis Symphonic Choir

Ethereal, mysterious, and hopeful, Maurice Duruflé’s Requiem combines the mystical beauty of Gregorian chant and the delicate shades of 20th century musical impressionism. His uplifting creation has become one of the most deeply cherished and beloved works of the 20th century. Though the composer-organist Duruflé published multiple versions of this work including for orchestral accompaniment, the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir presents this performance in its most intimate and transformative version, for chorus and organ alone. Set in the acoustically and visually stunning St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, the performance is sure to be one treasured by all for years to come.
