Volunteer Spotlight | Christina Merriott
Resuming with Feature Friday, today's spotlight shines on Attire Coordinator, Christina Merriott. During the day Christina is a Safety Representative at Milestone Contractors, LP. But with the Symphonic Choir she transforms into the attire guru for the wonderful folks in the Choir. She coordinates dress orders, orders the red accents that help make Festival of Carols “festive,” and ensure that everyone looks their absolute best for performances. Thank you Christina for your dedication!
Top 3 Christmas/Holiday Songs:
1.) “The Ballad of the Christmas Donkey” – Ed Ames (aka: “The Donkey Song” when we were kids!)
2.) “Sleigh Ride” – Leroy Anderson; This piece is fun whether you get to play it on an instrument or sing the lyrics. Both I’ve had the joy of doing, but not at the same time. I really enjoy the instrumental version, especially when you get to the jazzier section.
3.) “Oh Holy Night” (go figure, a soprano who likes Oh Holy Night); My Mom, Sister, and I did this as a trio once for church. A rare and special moment for us.
What voice part are you? Soprano 2
How long have you been in the Symphonic Choir? This is my 8th Season!
When did you first begin singing? Mom tells me when I was a baby, she knew when I woke up because I would be singing. Grade school choir. Around 2nd grade I was old enough to join the junior choir at church. The summer before 7th grade, I was selected to attend the first ICC Choral Festival and from there became one of the founding members of the organization (Danielle [Hurt] Hartman was there too. LOL – how time flies and paths cross again).
Favorite Eric Stark saying or quote? “Embrace your inner Ethel” (every once in while he has S2 join the Altos so I can claim this one) and “Show some leg”
